The $562 million Frankston Hospital redevelopment is ready to provide world-class healthcare for local families and create hundreds of jobs in Melbourne’s south-east.
The project is set to create 1,700 jobs in construction and provide a big boost to the local economy with new job opportunities for health care workers.

The upgrade will not only provide a boost economically but provide much need capacity for medical services.
An additional 120 beds, two new operating theatres, 13 new emergency department beds, new oncology facilities and dedicated space for enhanced mental health services will be provided.
A new main entrance and the consolidation of services from across the campus will improve access for patients and visitors.
This is part of the Victorian Government’s $7 billion pipeline of health infrastructure – the largest building program in the state’s history.
Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos says across the state we are seeing important projects built, and for Frankston this redevelopment is very important.
“Whilst the coronavirus fight continues, we’re still continuing to deliver important hospital projects across the state. This redevelopment will transform Frankston Hospital and ensure local families have the best services they need.”
Construction of the new tower is expected to be completed in late 2024.
The largest project Frankston has seen and a massive step forward for the health sector in the region.
“The redevelopment of Frankston Hospital is such an exciting project for the community, and we thank everyone who has come forward and provided feedback to help shape this significant investment in Melbourne’s south-east,” Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny says.
Around 3,000 babies a year are born at Frankston Hospital, and with more young families moving to the Frankston area the redevelopment will also deliver expanded women’s and children’s services.
The project will be delivered as a public-private partnership with a search for a consortium to deliver the project now underway.
An Expression of Interest period is now open – the start of a competitive process to secure a partner for the design, construction, finance and maintenance of the project.
The Government has looked for the public’s feedback on the project in recent months, about the services that are important to them and their families.
